Skills and attributes for success:
* Under the supervision of the Task Supervisor, performs routine document center support functions such as photocopying; delivering items; generating blowback; assembling notebooks, including pulling file copies of documents, tabbing binders, numbering, binding, labeling, re-filing documents and shelving; packing boxes and preparing them for shipment; bates stamping; ordering supplies; retrieving case materials; completing log sheets; answering phones; logging messages; faxing information, etc.
* Prepares documents for imaging/scanning
* Assembles/disassembles documents as required, taking care to ensure that original documents are reassembled exactly to their original state
* Maintains inventory/control records. Performs simple typing assignments using word processing equipment.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED required
* Must take the initiative to ask questions when necessary to complete the task correctly (e.g. where instructions are not explicit or appear to be contrary to the task objective).
* The ability to read and follow instructions is very important.
* Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including PCs, printers, photocopiers, scanners, telephone systems, fax machines, numbering and binding equipment, etc.
Must be able to write and print clearly.

Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a detailed oriented person to serve as the Office Assistant in the Mailroom at the Centralia Correctional Center. This individual will work with employees and individuals in custody mail. Processes and distributes all incoming and outgoing individuals in custody and staff mail.
Processes all outgoing individual in custody and staff mail according to the US Postal Service Regulations.
Distributes mail of individuals in custody who have been discharged, paroled, or transferred.
Keyboards a variety of difficult material including records, reports, correspondence, and other documents requiring an understanding of terminology which includes both commonly used and specialized words which can be readily checked in available references or are typically previously encountered.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and one (1) year of related office experience.
Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 35 words per minute.

Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
