Working in conjunction with the airport and government agencies, the main priority of each position is to ensure that we maintain compliance with local and federal regulations in respect to each of the following: Aircraft Access Control: by assuring that only authorized personnel enter the aircraft while on the ground. Aircraft Ramp Access Control: by providing AOA access control & safety oversight while aircraft is on the ground Aircraft Search: by meticulously searching all areas of the aircraft according to company, and federal regulations to ensure the safety of travelers' pre-departure. Baggage Security: by surveillance of bag room & baggage make up area to ensure no baggage is stolen or pilfered. Must be Florida Certified Police Officer, certified out-of-state Police Officer, previously certified Florida or out-of-state officer and eligible for FDLE Equivalency of Training (full-time police officer for at least a year, and separated within the past 8 years), currently enrolled in a Florida Police academy, or recently completed a Florida Police academy. Must be a United States citizen and 19 years of age or older. If not Florida certified, the hiree must successfully complete any academic requirements as set forth in F.S.S Chapter 943. Must not have ever been arrested for a crime classified as a felony or have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude. Any military service must have been completed with an honorable discharge. Must possess a valid Florida Driver License or the ability to obtain same within 30 days of employment. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Prior public contact, clerical or police agency experience is highly desirable. Education: Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade. College coursework is highly desirable. License/Certificate: Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required. Please note: Prior to employment, the prospective candidate must successfully complete a thorough background review, including being fingerprinted by the Newport Beach Police Department. Record must be free from conviction of any felony, or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, and from an excessive number of citations for traffic violations. Background history should indicate responsibility, dependability, honesty, integrity, acceptable communication skills, good judgment and the ability to relate well with others. The resulting report of your conviction history, (if any), will be evaluated along with the other information received in connection with your application.
