What you'll be doing…
As an Elevator Mechanic, you will utilize your technical skills to repair, replace, maintain and inspect elevators and associated components within Verizon's buildings. Your know-how and commitment to excellence will ensure that our elevator systems always operate at maximum efficiency.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Reviews and interprets electrical circuit diagrams required for the maintenance and safe operation of elevators.
* Trouble shoots, repairs and maintains the various types of automatic elevators, including drum, hydraulic, single and double traction machines.
* Maintains and services associated operating equipment such as controllers, selectors, generators, cab and hatch doors, and safety equipment and controls.
* Re-ropes all types of elevators. Replaces tapes as required and inspects and maintains shaft guide rails.
* Performs inspections and makes repairs on equipment or systems as required by Verizon Practices and/or local ordinances.
* Works at unusual heights from the top of the elevator cab and in hoist way, when necessary.
* Climbing ladders, working aloft, and moving/lifting items generally not exceeding 100 lbs.
* Travels from one building location to another by public transportation or company vehicle.
* Evacuates people from elevator when required.
* May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.
* Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business.
* Work tour hours are 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday (hours may vary). Overtime is as needed by the business.

You'll need to have:
* Tests- Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy.
* Normal Medical Department authorization for this job except if previously taken and still considered valid.
* Previous experience in elevator troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
* Previous experience or schooling in electrical and/or mechanical field.
* Must possess a NYC DOB Elevator Technician's License.
* Must possess a NYS Department of Labor Elevator Mechanic's License.
* Must possess a valid driver's license.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
* Relevant vocational or technical training or 3 or more years of relevant work experience.

You'll make sure our outside plant facilities are in tip-top condition! Your know-how and commitment to excellence will ensure that Verizon's outside facilities operate at maximum efficiency and preparedness.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
* Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
* Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
* Program and / or project management experience.
* Experience with Excel.
* Experience with data analysis.
* Willingness to travel approximately up to 25% or less.
